Marriages and relationships are difficult for many of us. Their perspective is so full of hope and promise plenitude, love and happiness. Often, their beginnings seem to live up to those dreams, at least for a while. But once these relations begin to fail, to show signs of disappointment, it is often very few couples can do to halt the decline. Some couples find their marriage in decline, decides quickly to end their relationship and seek the promise of happiness elsewhere. Others try to solve their problems with the help of friends, a therapist or clergy. Still others try to resolve their differences, alone or with the help of self-help books, videos and seminars. Those who choose to consult popular self-help materials often leave disappointed that their relationship continues to fail. Today we'll explore several reasons why traditional self-help materials are often ineffective in improving or repair a failing marriage.

Our discussion will focus on three areas common problem for most, if not all, materials for self-help People will run from less to more restrictive reasons for their failure.

To start I should mention that my partner, Jeane Cordingley, and PsyD I love reading self-help books. She threw me on them shortly after we met thirty some years ago. In one early characteristics are found in many of them have caught my attention immediately. This feature was inevitable that the chapters called their contents as a list, such as: "10 Sure Fire Methods to rekindle the passion in your marriage" or "Five steps to better communication" and another good, "Three things that every women should know about men." Now it is true that there are methods that will increase or return passion for some couples. Just as there are things that partners can do to better understand their partners in improving their ability communicate with each other and there are certainly things that every woman should know about men. However, such generalities are often of little value when attempting to fix a failing relationship.

Your relationship is the combination of two unique and special, each worthy of giving and receiving love. There is nobody else in this world quite like one of you and when you have met and formed a relationship, She also became an instant unique. The Many Faces of Solar Power

Living in Nevada, the sun is an almost constant companion. This gives Nevadans a unique opportunity to use solar radiation powers for good. In April, a tour of southern Nevada homes shed some light on the subject of solar powered homes. Hosted by the American Solar Energy Society, this Nevada branch of the National Solar Tour explored homes that used both passive and active solar power, thermal hot water systems, and other environmentally features. However, unless you’re a green technologies expert, or took the tour, you may not know the difference between passive and active solar, or how thermal hot water is different than average. Active solar technology is the one that most people may be familiar with. It involves having a solar panel that collects the sun’s energy and converts it into electricity. These have a battery where energy is stored, so electricity can still be used at night, and, to a certain extent, on cloudy days. Solar panels are an excellent way to make electricity, especially in remote areas. While they are moderately costly to set up, and do require some maintenance, they provide reliable and free electricity, even in climates far less sunny than Nevada’s.

Passive solar technologies are far older than active ones, and involve utilizing the natural heat and light the sun creates, without converting it in any other way. Have you ever noticed that after a long, hot day, south-facing rocks, pavement or brick and adobe buildings will radiate warmth? They have spent the day passively collecting solar energy, and are releasing it. Some materials are better at absorbing and storing that heat energy than others. For example, wood insulates, meaning it will block temperatures, whereas stone will absorb and release temperatures. Homes that are built to take advantage of passive solar are often constructed of brick, adobe or concrete. Cob is another passive-solar-friendly and ancient building material that is going through a revival of sorts. It is made of sand, clay and straw, similar ingredients as adobe, but adobe is baked into bricks and stacked, whereas cob structures are free-formed while the material is wet. Passive solar homes usually have a lot of windows lining their south walls, and less so their east and west walls, with little to no windows on the colder north sides. These windows do two things. First, they provide natural light inside the home, one aspect of passive solar. Second, they allow heat to come into the home. If the home has a stone tile floor and even walls, that tile will absorb the heat, releasing it later when the outside temperature drops.

Passive solar homes can be designed to be cool in summer while using the sun to warm them in winter. For example, if shutters are closed during summer months, the home will remain much cooler. Also, the height and angle of overhang can be considered to maximize the windows exposure to low winter sun, but minimize exposure to the high summer sun. Alternatively, I saw an interesting example of someone planting deciduous trees on the south side of their home. In the winter, the trees had no leaves and so let in a lot of light and heat. In the summer, their thick greenery provided shade that kept the house cool.

So that is the major difference between active and passive solar technologies. Since passive solar is essentially free, it would be wise for any architect or home designer to take it into consideration when building new homes. Well designed passive solar homes can greatly reduce their electrical energy needs. And while active solar is brilliant technology, it still takes many resources to create. Plus, it may be superfluous in an area with an existing electrical source.

As for thermal water heating, it too is a very simple concept. Home made thermal water heaters can be as simple as an outdoor water tank painted black, but that’s a little crude for most tastes. However, there are a variety of styles out there. Some have panels that are metal painted black and enclosed with glass, with copper pipes filled with water running through them. This water will heat, and is then pushed by gravity into an insulated storage tank. Some solar water heaters use a similar set-up but with tubes filled with anti-freeze that are then hooked up to a heat transfer loop, where water in a storage tank is heated. Whatever system you use, thermal water heating is surprisingly affective.

Collect Rare Coins – a Dummies Guide

Most people are born collectors. Whether its stamps, baseball cards, soft toys or even vintage automobiles, you can bet that if its been made, then its been turned into someone’s collection. Of course some items are more valuable than others, making the act of collecting them more attractive to people. These items may start off life as collector’s items, but very often they begin life as inexpensive commodity items that become increasingly more valuable as they get older and rarer. So it is with rare coins. Most rare coins were, in their day, were readily available but as they got older they fell out of circulation, or the materials they were made from became more valuable – like gold.

Today, if you like to collect rare coins, you will find that this particular hobby, can be rewarding both in terms of satisfaction and in a monetary sense as well.

Don’t think, however, that you have to be rich to collect rare coins. New types of coins are made every year and some are re-introduced years after they originally appeared, so focusing on a particular time period and location is important. Like any hobby, researching the background and educating yourself to the history and significance of the items in your collection can greatly add to your satisfaction. You should make use of printer material as well as the internet to research your coin collection, and this can help you decide which coins to collect, and also the best places to obtain them.

You don’t have to limit yourself to on-line resources either. There are many good coin publications such as Coin World or Coinage magazine which are written and produced by like-minded hobbyists and leading experts in the field. Coins such as Krugerrands, while not rare, are certainly very valuable items in today’s marketplace since they are mad of solid gold.

When your collection is complete, if it can ever be complete, then you will want to show it off to its best advantage. You should take time to source attractive display materials such as folders or albums. You might want to consider displaying them in, say, a local museum or Government building if they are of particular interest.

Always keep your coins well cleaned, but do take care, not all materials are suitable for this task. You can usually clean them well by soaking them in vinegar or lemon juice. These remove dirt and grime but are non-abrasive so will not damage the surface. Afterwards, they should be air-dried or patted dry with a soft cloth. Only polish the if you can be absolutely certain that the surface will not be damaged. Some coins scratch very easily and a worn coin will sometimes be worth next to nothing.

why is it very rare for a author to write in present tense?

i dont understand. because a great writer once told me, bad writers write in past tense and past tense has not been used over 60 years he says. he says only teenage writers and terrible writers who are not experenced or flexible with their words write in past tense. i do not understand. i am very frustrated and cant understand this. please help.

First of all, who the hell told you that? Teen writers? Stephen King never wrote anything in the past tense. Most of James Patterson’s work is in the past tense. All of JKR’s work is in the past tense. A lot of the classics, too, are in past tense so whoever told you that is either:
A- A huge liar
B- A huge show-off
C- An idiot
Though, to answer your question, I think people write in the past tense because it’s more traditional. There isn’t really a reason for it to be more popular than the present tense, to be honest, I’ve tried both and they’re both easy to write with. Like first and third person, but it’s personal preference when it comes to that. A few great authors Must Have decided to use past tense because they preferred it and a lot of amateur writers (who soon became professionals) thought it was the key to a good book. So, it became a chain. I honestly don’t think they’re that rare. I’ve read- or seen- at least 30 books written in present tense, but I’m not very good at estimating so I don’t think you can take my word for it.
